Born and raised in Fresno, singer-songwriter Merlinda Espinosa, has been performing since she was a child. Influenced by traditional Mexican music, jazz, R&B, country and Latin rock, Espinosa’s style embodies pieces of all of these, as her soulful voice and powerful songs tell stories from her heart and captivate the listener’s.
To celebrate her first album of original songs, “A Place for My Heart,” Espinosa will perform at the John W. Dodson Theatre at Bitwise South Stadium on Friday, December 1. Mixing the playfulness of Norah Jones, the sultriness of Sade, and the soulfulness of Bonnie Raitt and Linda Ronstadt, Espinosa will hypnotize audiences with her original tracks from “A Place for My Heart.”
Espinosa will be joined by percussionist and producer Mark Shuklian, bassist Bill Turini, pianist John Cleave, and guitarist Garrett Masterson to enchant even the youngest at heart.
Espinosa sings of love, loss, hope, and strength oh so beautifully. In the title track of her new album, Espinosa croons about a young woman in search of where, or with whom, to leave her heart. After hearing the smooth, sultry sounds of Espinosa’s voice, the audience’s minds will be made up
Doors open at 6pm and the performance begins at 7pm. Join us early for wine and appetizers.
